The Scarlet red video camera is being completely redesigned and a video camera is totally different from what was announced in April 2008. About the only thing that has not changed is the name.
The all-new video camera is the first movie camera consumer-quality video to hit the market. It will be unveiled at the NAB 2009 exhibition and will start shipping this spring.
On November 13, 2008 Red formally revealed information about the camcorder redesigned.
The scarlet camera is designed to serve both as very high resolution DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera, and as staple RED larger than a HD camcorder.
The version of the 5K, 30 fps, which is compatible with the red, Canon and Nikon lenses will be the first ship in spring or summer of 2009 and a price of about $ 7,000.
Consumers are more drooling version is the mini-RED Red Scarlet 3K camcorder mount at a price of about $ 2,500. It will begin shipping during the summer or early fall of 2009.
This version has 3K resolution (3072×1620) with a 2/3-inch Mysterium X sensor that shoots up to 120FPS video and scales up to 6K (6000×4000) with a 36×24mm sensor Mysterium Monstro with up to 30 fps video.
A $ 2,500 for a handheld video camera with "beyond the state-state-of-art cinema quality specification. There's plenty to drool.
You can look forward to several more advanced versions of the video camera that comes with more specifications. (and higher prices).
