issue size of physical force to take cover from an empty box?
A sealed box with a lid removable 1.40 Zone 2 m2 and negligible weight. The box set is a mountain where the air pressure outside the box is 8.51E 4 Pa. The interior the box is evacuated. What is the magnitude of force needed to pull the lid of the box? Any Help please.
The force is the product of the difference in air pressure inside and outside the area multiplied the surface of the lid. F = PA = (8.51 x 10 ^ 4 Pa) (.014 m²) = 1200 N.
